  • Eyepieces: widefield WF10X/18 and WF25X
  • Achromatic DIN objectives
  • Adjustable interpupillary distance
  • Revolving quadruple nosepiece
  • Mechanical stain-resistant double layer stage
  • Adjustable phototube

Description

Microscope Head

The viewing head of the OMAX 40X-2500X Darkfield-Trinocular-Microscope is inclined at a 45 degree angle and can be turned 360 degrees. This allows the user to sitt comfortably and observe the specimen without straining or having to turn the microscope every now and then so is ergonomical. As such, it helps prevent back problems.

It also comes with a sliding head, which allows the user to easily adjust the interpupillary distance (55mm ~ 75mm or 2-3/16inch ~ 2-15/16inch) and thus accommodates all users. The sliding head is an easy feature to use given that it simply involves pulling the eyepiece apart or towards each other to the right distance. For this microscope, both eyepiece tubes also have in place a diopter, which helps adjust different eye visions and thus for different users. Therefore, this feature ensures that any user, regardless of their eye sight gets to view a clear image of the specimen.

The widefield eyepieces (WF10X/18 and WF25X) in place present an advantage in that they make it easier for the user to position his or her eye. With wide field eyepieces, it also becomes easier for younger kids to look in to the wide field lens and get to clearly observe what has been brought into focus. With wide field eyepieces, users also get to view a wider field of view, which means that one does not necessarily have to keep manipulating/moving the slide.

*The microscope comes with interchangeable eyepieces - When changing them, it is important to do so quickly in order to prevent dust accumulation.

The other important aspect of the viewing head for this microscope is the optical system. Apart from the binocular eyepiece set, the microscope also comes with an adjustable trinocular port that accommodates the camera. The camera is not fixed in place, which means that it can be easily removed and even interchanged when need be.

Digital Camera

This Omax microscope comes with a true color 3488x2616 pixels (9M pixels) camera designed to capture still images as well as stream live videos on the PC. The camera comes with a 0.5 reduction lens for a larger field of view as well as a user friendly software that is compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10, Mac OS and Linux operating system. The sophisticated software allows for such functions as editing, processing as well as measurement. This makes it easier to share the microscope in an interactive way while at the same time enhancing documentation.  Some of the other aspects of the 9.0MP include:

  • Mm calibration slide: 1mm/100 division
  • Frame rate: 1.9fps at 3488x2616, 8fps at 1744x1308, 27fps at 872x654
  • 0.5X reduction lens
  • Adapters fit 30mm and 30.5mm eyepiece tubes
  • Aptina 1/2.4inch color CMOS
  • Dynamic Range 65.2dB

Objectives

This Omax microscope comes with achromatic DIN (4X, 10X, 40X (S), 100X (S, Essential oil)) objectives. These are standard achromatic objectives where the 40x and 100x are spring loaded for their protection when they come in contact with such hard surfaces as the glass slide. Together with the eyepieces, these objectives offer six levels of magnification (40X-100X-250X-400X-1000X-2500X) for viewing a wide range of specimen.

Stage

The microscope comes with a mechanical stain-resistant double layer stage (size: 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" (140mm x 140mm), translation range: 3" x 2" (75mm x 50mm). Apart from the fact that it is stain resistant, the stage provides a great advantage in that it is easy to maneuver, making it easier to move the specimen without necessarily touching the slide.

Some of the other features include:

  • Coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs on both sides
  • Rack and pinion adjustment
  • Filter holder
  • Oil darkfield condenser
  • Black palm rest on the base
  • Replaceable 3W LED light
  • Power supply: 100V~240V 50/60Hz worldwide range

Brightfield and Darkfield Microscope System

The OMAX 40X-2500X Brighter Darkfield LED Trinocular Compound Microscope offers both the brightfield and darkfield systems. Whereas the brightfield system is the most conventional technique, darkfield microscopy allows the user to observe the specimen as a bright object on a dark background.

The microscope comes with all the necessary accessories to allow users to switch to the technique they intend to use depending on the specimen. For instance, the device comes with a condenser with a filter holder that allows the microscope to be easily converted into a darkfield microscope. Here, a patch stop filter has to be placed into the filter holder. Because the specimen reflects light from the microscope in to the objective, the specimen will appear bright.

Through these two systems, this microscope can be used to observe a wide range of specimen from bacteria to yeast and insects. The darkfield is particularly used for observing the external details of specimen, which makes it an important device in both the laboratory and among hobbyists and students.
